BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
Travel insurenace
Travel insurance is not included in our trips. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance that provides coverage in the event of an accident or sudden illness during the trip and that also covers costs arising from trip cancellation due to illness. Please check the terms and conditions with your insurance provider
Passports and proof of identity
Schengen Area countries maintain joint external border controls. Travel documents are generally not checked by authorities when traveling within the Schengen Area. However, travelers must carry a valid travel document accepted by the respective countries: a passport or an identity card.
The Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
When traveling within the EU, it is usually sufficient for your passport to be valid for the duration of the planned trip. In newer EU member states in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, authorities’ interpretations of EU entry regulations may vary; it is therefore advisable to check in advance if there are specific requirements regarding passport validity for travel to these destinations.
A passport is always required for travel outside the EU. Most countries in Asia, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula require your passport to be valid for six months beyond the end of your trip. Please keep this in mind when planning your trip and check the requirements well in advance so that you have time to apply for a new passport before departure if necessary
Nordic citizens do not need a travel document when traveling within the Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland). However you must be able to prove your identity and citizenship of a Nordic country if required; accepted documents include, for example, a druver’s license, passport, identity card, or Kela card with a photograph (for children under 15, a Kela card without photograph is also accepted.

THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONFITIONS APPLY TO PACKAGE TOURS INVOLVING AIR TRAVEL:
ORAVAIS TRAFIK SPECIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
We adhere to the General Terms and Conditions for Package Tours as wekk as Oravais Trafik Ab’s special terms and conditions for package tours involving air travel.
Due to airline terms and conditions, the cancellation rules set out in the general terms (Section 4.1) cannot be applied. With reference to Section 1.3 of the general terms the following applies:
1. For cancellations made 61 days or more prior to departure and administrative fee of €60 per person is charged.
2. For cancellations made 60-31 days prior to departure, the advance payment of €100-€500 per person is charged.
3. For cancellations made 30 days or less prior to departure, the tour operator’s actual costs plus an administrative fee are charged. In such cases, the amount may approach the full price of the trip; therefore it is important that your travel insurance includes cancellation coverage.
These special terms apply unless otherwise stated for a specific trip.
Payment Terms
The adcance payment for the trip is €500 per person. The final payment is generally due 28 days before the trip; for bus tours within the Nordic countries and the Baltic states, it is due 14 days before the trip. Failure to pay the invoice does not constitute cancellation of the trip; cancellations must be made to our office during business hours (weekdays 08:30-16:00, tel. 06 318 4000). This also applies to cancellations made via email; such cancellations are valid only once confirmed by Oravais Trafik.
The tour operator’s right to make changes or cancel
A minimum number of travelers is required for the trip to take place. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel the trip no later than 21 days prior to departure if the minimum number of travelers is not met. If, for reasons beyond its control, the tour operator is unable to adhere to the agreed itinerary, it has the right to change the hotel, accommodation, or mode of transport, and to alter the timetable or travel program in a manner that does not materially change the nature of the trip.
